Nothing on the walls. Heat only the rooms you use. Slim white PowerBoard panels on the ceiling warm people and everything in the room directly, instead of heating the air first. Supplied and installed across the UK.
Northampton's NN-postcode area runs from the Victorian terraces of Semilong and Kingsthorpe through the post-war estates of King's Heath out to the rapidly expanding new-build areas of Upton and Sixfields. North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire councils took over from the old county authority in 2021, and net-zero retrofit targets are written into both housing strategies. East Midlands winters here average around 3.5°C and the city sits on a clay plateau that brings sharp frosts and morning condensation. PoweRad's Northampton installers fit ceiling-mounted infrared panels across NN1 to NN5, with particular experience in HMO conversions near the University of Northampton, family homes in Abington and listed properties around the Market Square. There's no flue, no pipework and no annual gas safety check.
PoweRad fits ceiling-mounted infrared panels across Northampton and nearby areas including Milton Keynes, Leicester and Birmingham. With local homes typically rated EPC C, moving from storage heaters or an ageing gas system to room-by-room infrared is a straightforward way to lift comfort and efficiency.
No boiler, no radiators, no pipework. Slim electric panels sit flat on the ceiling and warm the room the same way the sun warms you.
Around 3cm thin and out of sight overhead. They free up every wall, and there is nothing for children or pets to touch.
Infrared warms the walls, floor and furniture directly, the way sunshine does. The warmth is even from floor to ceiling and does not vanish the moment a door opens.
Panels reach full output in under 10 minutes and every room is controlled separately, so you only ever heat the rooms you are using.
The numbers that shape heating bills in Northampton, Northamptonshire.
Northampton's heating picture: 94,000 homes, average energy bills of £126 a month, 92% heated by gas. Infrared with room-by-room thermostats cuts waste at the source. See the running costs guide below for the full comparison. See how we calculate savings
Plenty of Northampton homes still run ageing warm-air units, gas boilers or LPG systems that cost more every year to fuel, service and repair. Infrared ceiling panels are the modern electric replacement: no pipework, no flue, no annual service. Panels are fitted room by room, usually in 1-2 days, and every room gets its own thermostat so you stop heating empty space.
Panels are independent of the existing pipework, so you can switch over room by room and cap the old system when it suits you.
No annual gas safety check, no boiler service contract, no parts to fail. A 10-year product warranty instead.

Understanding Northampton's unique climate, property landscape, and energy profile
Northampton sits on a clay plateau above the Nene valley, and January averages around 3.5°C are commonly accompanied by sharp morning frosts. The clay subsoil holds moisture well into spring, and condensation on cold-bridged solid walls is a recurring issue in the older terraces.
The NN-postcodes mix Victorian terraces in Semilong and Kingsthorpe, post-war estates in King's Heath, the listed core around the Market Square, and the rapidly expanding new-build areas of Upton and Sixfields. Local government here is split between North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire councils since the 2021 unitary reorganisation.
Most NN-postcode homes are on mains gas, but the new-build Upton and Sixfields estates have a significant share of all-electric properties. Both unitary councils have written net-zero retrofit targets into their housing strategies.
The recurring Northampton problems are HMO billing around the University of Northampton, condensation in clay-cold solid-wall Semilong terraces, and listed-building constraints around the Market Square. Per-room infrared answers all three within standard retrofit budgets.
